Do I Need a Visa to Enter Jordan?

Many people ask us if they need a visa to enter Jordan. Citizens of most Western countries do not require a visa to enter Jordan, they will be issued with a tourist visa at the border. That is to say, they can just approach the southern border crossing at Aqaba-Eilat, or the northern border crossing at Sheik Hussein-Beit Shean, pay the border tax, and receive a visa. At the Allenby Bridge (between Jerusalem and Amman), no visas are issued on the spot, but if you have pre-applied for a visa it is possible to cross. It is recommended though, to cross at either the southern or northern border, because the crossing time and experience is generally quicker and easier.

Below is a list of countries from where a visa to enter Jordan is needed, and those who do not. If your country requires prior visa clearance and you would like to join a tour to Petra or Jordan, please write to us because in some cases it is possible to arrange the visa as part of the tour reservation.
